Happy New Year to all of our followers out there. Hope that 2011 was good for you and that 2012 is an Olympic year for you!!
We were certainly kept busy in 2011. The group provided 2395 hours of cover and attended 837 patients. The calls attended varied from falls to cardiac arrest and the Responders treated patients with a wide variety of illnesses and disorders including strokes, diabetic collapse, convulsions, breathing difficulties, chest pains, heart attacks (MI’s) and a variety of trauma related incidents including falls, fractures, burns, cuts and road traffic collisions.
In addition to responding for the Ambulance Service, we attended many group meetings such as Women’s Institutes and Fellowships etc to give talks on how the volunteer and full-time parts of the Ambulance Service work. These were always well received. Two members of the team qualified as Enhanced Responders and our congratulations go out to them on their achievement. Our ranks were swelled by increasing numbers of volunteers wishing to become responders and others who wished to be Trustees. We are grateful to all of these people who freely give of their time to help others.
In 2012 we are hoping to see more people qualify as Responders and we look forward to assisting West Midlands Ambulance Service as they continue to role out their program to improve outcomes from life-threatening conditions. This includes taking Basic Life Support Training out into the community and increasing the numbers of Public Access Defibrillator sites throughout the county.
All of our work costs money and a major part of our commitment as Responders is to ensure that we raise sufficient money to continue our work in the Community. If you feel you can help us in any way to raise funds, we would love to hear from you. We are always looking for novel ways to interest and engage the public as well as charitable organisations to help us raise the vital sums needed for Equipment, Driver Training, Vehicle Maintenance/Replacement, Uniforms and much more. If you can help us in any way call or email Keith. Thanks for following us and thanks for supporting what we do. We hope you have a safe and prosperous 2012.

Once again our thanks go out to the generosity of Tamworth Rotary Club who have very kindly donated £500 to our charity. This wonderful and unexpected surprise donation will go to our equipment fund which aims to raise £8000 for new equipment. Thank you once again Rotary Club of Tamworth.

The population of Tamworth must have thought they had drunk too many tonight as a large sleigh of Santas (is that the collective term for them?) descended on Tamworth town centre and walked and walked and walked around it. Not to be outdone, TAME CFR’s found five willing Santas to take part in the stroll around the town and raise funds for their favourite charity. Each Santa was sponsored and raised valuable funds for us. Thank you Santa!! Thank you to all of you that sponsored the Santas. Thank you to Rotary Club of Tamworth for organising the stroll.

Fantastic news for the group! We have secured sufficient funding from several County Councillors enabling us to purchase a Terrafix Satellite Navigation and Computerised Ambulance Despatch System. This much needed piece of kit will improve our response times as well as give us greater accuracy in locating patients and provide us with a lot more information regarding the patient whilst we are still on route. Thank you, thank you, thank you to John Wells, Michael Oates, Ben Adams, Lee Bates and Matthew Ellis for contributing from their Local Community Fund and Staffordshire County Council for their tremendous support once again.

Our latest fundraising event was a brilliant live music night at the Globe Inn on the 2nd September. This sell out night saw Slack Larynx and also The Variables supporting Pressure Kids (winners of this years Battle of the Bands) followed by a DJ providing a fun-packed night for the 100 plus crowd. The night was a sell out and a total success and many attendees have said what a fantastic night with loads of fun had by all. The grand sum of £343.65 was raised. Thanks to the Bands for the superb music and supporting us, Mark Cocklin for the banter, Mike Hayes for the sound and lighting, Adam Gould for DJ’ing the evening, the Globe Inn for the venue, Caz, Lisa Travis, Jessica Groves, Aaron Groves for organising it and Rob Anderson the official photographer. The youngsters that attend the Wilnecote Youth Centre have come to our aid by raising a fantastic £684.25 for our funds. The money was raised by an Awareness Day in Ankerside, which included a Tombola and a Table Top sale at the Youth Centre. The youngsters decided that they wanted to do something for the community and decided to adopt us as their nominated charity. The awareness day was held in May and the table top sale on the 18th June. The money was presented to T.A.M.E CFR’s at the group meeting on Friday 15th July and certificates were presented to each of the members involved. The organisation of the event was the hard work of Charliie Davey and she was ably assisted by Julie Riley, Sandra Martin. Susan Maddocks, Charliie Devey, Jake Storer, Melissa Hewitt, Ricky Hawkes, Steven Coulthard, Naomi Hewitt, Aaron Smith, and Macauley Uddin.

Want to help us buy urgently needed equipment but don’t know how? We now have a texting option. Nothing could be simpler to help us raise urgently needed funds to buy a new ecg and patient monitor. Just text ‘tame01 followed by the amount with a £ symbol’ to 70070. For example to donate £1 to us, text tame01 £1 to 70070. That’s all there is to it. We receive 100% of the money you pledge!

Tamworth Community Fire Station Officially Opened
Posted by responder999 under Uncategorized1 Comment
Tamworth Community Fire Station was officially opened on 9th June by Bob Neill MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of Communities and Local Government. TAME CFR was asked to attend the opening, which was attended by many senior members of Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service including the Chief Fire Officer, and asked to assist in a demonstration with the Fire Service dealing with a house fire involving three casualties. The demonstration was well received by the large audience in attendance, before Bob Neill officially opened the station by cutting a ribbon. Tamworth was well supported by the mayor (Councillor Jeremy Oates) and mayoress as well as the outgoing mayor, Councillor Lee Bates, pupils from the School next door (St Gabriel’s RC Primary School) and representatives from several community organisations. The fire station is becoming a hub of activity within the Tamworth Community with Tamworth Street Wardens, Police Community Support Officers, TAME CFR and many voluntary organisations now utilising the excellent facilities at the Marlborough Way site.
